Yellowstone

Location of YellowstoneAbout the park

630.000 years ago there was a big explosion in the area of where now the Yellowstone National Park is located. A huge magma chamber explode and left behind a huge devastation.
A crater of 45 kilometres wide and 75 kilometres long is what the result was. Nowadays they call this huge crater, The Yellowstone National Park.

The park is well known because of its Geysers, the most famous of the park, and perhaps in the world is 'The Old Faithful'  located in the Upper Geyser Basin. This geyser approximately erupts every 91 minutes for sometimes 5 minutes. The height of the fountains can be over 30 meters. The longer the eruptions take, the longer it takes before it erupts again.

Not every geyser in the park erupts every couple of hours, for example the geyser Giantess erupts every six to eight months.

The Yellowstone park is well known as a refugee for Deer. You can expect to see a lot of mule deer anywhere in the park.
