Main attraction of the park are the Sandstone mountains, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains is a mountain range between Germany and the Czech Republic.
The Elbe breaks through the mountain range in a steep and narrow valley. In the south east it borders to the Czech Republic, here you can find the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, also a place with amazing natural beauty.
The Landscape
The unique landscape of Saxon is formed by erosion made up of sandstone in three strata, often overlaid with sediments from the Ice Age, in the boundary areas granite and individual eruptions of basalt.
