There are a lot of 'special' animals who live in the Everglades, we will give a short list of animals who live in the park.
Caribbean Flamingo
Most of the Flamingo's who are sighted in Florida, are escapees from the Galapagos islands. These animals, with their extremely pink plumage, got lost during migration. Because of the similar scenery, the animals tend to stay in the Caribbean region. A Caribbean flamingo is 140 cm in length and can weigh up to 3 kilograms.
Pelicans
The pelican is a large water bird with enormous, pouched bills and long wings
Florida panther
The Florida panther is an endangered animal who can be found in palm forests and the swamps in Florida. The wild population of this animal is only 30 to 50 animals, these animals need a larger wilderness area to survive. A Florida panther can weigh up to 120 kilograms.
West Indian manatee
You can find manatees in the Everglades, these large fully-aquatic marine mammals are also known as sea cows. These animals are endangered because of human related problems. Their Natural habitat is decreasing and they are often killed by dams or boating accidents. They seek the warm water of the Florida Bay in the summer.
Turtles
The most of the turtles that are living in the park, can be found in fresh water marshes and ponds. The ones that you will most likely find in the Everglades is the striped mud turtle, the peninsula cooter and the Florida red-belly. There are a lot of turtles in the Everglades, so you can't miss them.
