The nearest major airport is in Surabaya, three hours away by car (and more by bus). The nearest larger towns are Probolinggo, on the north coast of Java, and Malang, to the west of the park.
In these cities there are accommodations for sleeping and eating.
Malang is the city where the of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is located. It is advised to go to the office for detailed information about the park and touring information.

Cemorolawang
This is one of the entrance gates trough which tourist pass so they can see the expanse of the sand sea. From here you can also look at Bromo's crater from a distance.
The sea of sand/Mount Bromo
The mount Bromo is one of the five mountains within the Tengger mountains.
You can climb the Mount Bromo, this mountain is 2,392 meters above sea level .You can climb the concrete steps to the rim of the crater of the miuntain.
From the Mt. Bromo you can have a majestic view across to Semeru volcano in the south.
Mount Semeru
This is the tallest mountain in the National Park and on the island of Java. Since 1818, there were at least 55 (big)eruptions of the Mount Semeru, small eruptions happen several times a day. It is also possible to climb this mountain, but it can be dangerous because of potential eruptions and dangerous gasses from the small eruptions.
The best time to visit the park
June to October, and December to January.
Because of the rain season it is advisable to don't go to Java in these months
